Provenance
Cut from a length of French shirting fabric dating to the 1920s, preserved for nearly a century inside a retired suiting warehouse. Warehouses of this kind supplied tailors with cloth selected for its handle, durability, and refinement. Removed from circulation as tastes and businesses changed, this fabric survived not as a finished garment but as an unused remnant of the French textile trade.
The Making
Shirting fabric of the period was woven to balance comfort with the crisp structure required by traditional tailoring. Fine yarns and a tightly controlled weave produced cloth that could withstand frequent wear while remaining light against the body. Decades in storage have allowed the fabric to retain its original character, offering a rare opportunity to work with period cloth in an exceptionally preserved state.
The Garment
Vintage-inspired fit with dropped shoulders and a slightly tapered waist. The lightness and structure of the original shirting give the garment an easy, unconstructed quality while retaining a tailored silhouette. Production is strictly limited by the amount of surviving fabric and cannot be repeated once the original length has been exhausted.
