C. 1820 "de Nǐmes" Pant
C. 1820 "de Nǐmes" Pant
The term "Denim" originates from this French fabric - "Toile de Nîmes." Made in the early 19th century, originally developed as a durable twill fabric for workwear and later ticking for household items. This textile was used as a mattress cover, once stuffed with feathers, reflecting how ticking was often repurposed for different uses due to it's resilience. Cotton/Linen blend.
