Provenance

Cut from an early 1900s Suzani sourced in Uzbekistan during a personal buying trip through Central Asia. The original textile was hand-embroidered by a group of women in preparation for a family wedding — a tradition in which young women would collectively stitch large decorative cloths as part of a bride's dowry.

The Making

Suzani embroidery is among the most labor-intensive textile traditions in Central Asia. The floral motifs — worked in silk thread on a cotton or silk ground — could take years to complete. This piece carries that history in every stitch.

The Garment

Constructed as a traditional chore jacket. Because this is cut from a single antique textile, there will never be another one exactly like it.

Fit and Measurements

Chest circumference: 42.5"
Shoulder: 18"
Front length: 27"
Sleeve length: 25"

Care Instructions

Dry clean only. Due to the age and nature of the textile, avoid water, steam, and direct heat. Store flat or hanging in a breathable garment bag away from direct sunlight, which can fade antique dyes over time. Handle embroidered areas with care — the embroidered threads are original to the textile and irreplaceable.

This piece has been professionally cleaned/inspected prior to sale.
